Find a Course
Search for a subject or speciality to find courses relevant to you. Most of the courses that MCSC provides are free of charge to NHS staff in the Yorkshire and the Humber Region.
Courses at the MCSC focus on human factors, such as teamwork, communication, leadership and fixation errors in a clinical setting relevant to a department, speciality or a particular staff group. Focus on these factors can improve the management of crises, which in turn improves the patient’s outcome.
The definition of Human Factors in healthcare is
“Enhancing clinical performance through an understanding of the effects of teamwork, tasks, equipment, workspace, culture and organisation on human behaviour and abilities and application of that knowledge in clinical settings”.
Catchpole (2010), cited in Department of Health Human Factors Reference Group Interim Report, 1 March 2012, National Quality Board, March 2012.
